Our team

We are a group of people with different backgrounds, goals and ages. But we share one passion: Freediving

- Our first priority is safety.
- Our second priority is to have fun.
- Good results are just a positive bonus.

The Club
The foundation for our club was set in September 2002, when Jani Sjölund, Daniel Flöjt and Peter Sjöberg wanted to learn more about how a person could dive longer or hold his breath for a long time. After a while they learned a few techniques and became better. A few months after, Anders Larsson and his younger brother Johan Larsson and also Ingela Karlsson showed their interest in freediving and joined us.

In the year of 2004, we decided to become more serious and register a club. We then became a part of the Ålands dyksällskap (Aland Island Diving Association), who has been a great support in the developement of our club.

We pay a yearly fee to Ålands dyksällskap, and thereby we get access to a swimming pool twice a week and many other benefits.

Each tuesday at 8-9pm, the more experienced freedivers practise and at thursdays at 8-9pm beginners get a chance to join and try out freediving.
In that way we can focus better and help them by showing different tehniques.

Beginners may join our diving sessions for a few times (3-5), and if they like it and want to practise it more seriously, then they have to pay the membership fee and become a full member. Right now, we have more beginners than ever and it is a pleasure to see that freediving is getting more popular in our island.

Our homepage
We have had our own homepage for quite a while, but unfortunately we have had some problems with it. For example a few domains have been cancelled, but also the lack of time to upload new articles, photos and videos has made our homepage static and boring. But now we have a sponsorship agreement, and hopefully we will keep our beautiful homepage more alive in the future.

Logo
We have our own logo, that can either be white on a black background or black on a white background.

The logo symbolizes a diving mask, since it is one of the most basic parts of the freediving equipment. If you turn the logo 90 degrees to the left, it will become the number 3. It symbolizes the three founders of the club (Jani, Daniel and Peter). The "spike" in the middle of the lower part in the logo symbolizes the letter "Å" in "Åland".
